When Cardon casually said he wanted to bike to CT to retrieve our phone chargers from Adrian and Wendy's (left there the previous weekend) He didn't expect me to agree and even encourage the idea. He said "it was only in jest, how far is that anyway" We soon were on google maps and the numbers 117 appered. We both agreed there was no way, and forgot about it for a day. The idea came up again with the additional idea of just biking until we couldn't anymore then to just get a cheap motel to crash in. It was set we were biking on the coming Friday that was that. I took off work and we borrowed all this gear from the Doxey clan up stairs, We told them what we were doing the next day and they touch us with a bit of reality and gave all this stuff to use which we came to find later made all the difference. Gloves, helmets, shirt and shorts for Cardon, and a camel pak too. We were so clueless, we were all "yeah lets bike whatever it will be fun." So thats what we did, and fun it was.

Once out of Queens the first thirty miles or so were hilly but beautiful. Cardon resting mid mountain climb on his fixie turned freewheel for the trip.

Another hill, Cardon kept saying he couldn't believe I was doing this with my old Schwin, its not even a freaking road bike!

One of a handful of pretty harbor towns we passed through.

Our bikes resting as we ate tacos at some mediocre mexican joint in Huntington. We started at 9:00am and took this lunch about 12:30, about 33 miles out.

Me KP even getting props deep Long Island, what what! 46 miles outor so.

This is Micheal one on the nicest people we have ever met. We biked on 7-11 so 711 gas stations were giving out free slurpies, we hit up at least three along our journey. On this particular stop we met Micheal and his friend around the side of the sev having some brews. We started chatting and told them what we were doing, they flipped there lids, couldn't believe it. Micheal tried to talk us out of continuing, worried about us. This lasted for the next thirty minutes "You'll never make it." He offered us a ride but due to his drinks we declined and said we would be o.k. He told us to hold on, left and came back with a map and some huge cold waters for us. Soo nice. This was around 5:00pm and we still had forty somethin miles to go. Though we didn't take there advice, they sucsessfully made us nervous about time and distance.

Not even 5 to 8 miles later my legs locked up and I had to lay down, we think it had to due with our extended break with Micheal and the sev. Messed with our rhythm. Cardon left me laying on this side street and said "I'll be right back" not even two minutes later he says" Come on I meet this dude Reggie he is going to lend me some stuff to make a sign and said you could relax in his shop and use the restroom." What! Cardon made up this sign to try and get us ride to cut off some time and store up some energy. Reggie even gave him highlighters to "three dee tha lettas" So nice. We grabed a hand full of hersh kisses from his jar and were on our way.

We walked for about two miles before we got a ride. Ryan an old school bowl skater picked us up with the assumption our bikes were out of order, we told him we started in Queens and we were out of order. He was o.k. with that and agreed to take us 10 or 15 miles. But due to him and Cardon hitting it off, (soon after he showed Cardon his old school board sitting in the passenger seat) he took us at least 20, further than he and we intended.

This is a good shot of our bikes and Ryan. He was such an awesome guy, wouldn't even let Cardon buy him his Gatorade.

This is the section we rode with Ryan for. It was just right to get rested up and countinue on our journey now with full intention of going all the way!

These are shots of the last twenty somethin miles, we took it nice and slow and took plenty of pictures...well Cardon took a lot of pictures I could hardly stop for anything or I wasn't going to make it. Such pretty farmland with vinyards and ocean fronts on either side of us. It was a beautiful time of night too, biking from six to eight forty five or so.

Lots of bird of prey nests, and rabbits for them to prey on.

We had to take a picture of this Terry's Farm sign to give a shout out to my dad, Terry who also has fruit farms in Utah.

All...most...there..

We did it! And it only took 12 hours...One can do so much in ignorance.

passed out once on the water headed to CT
