I HAVE A NEW JOB

I am about 5 weeks into a new job as a book cover designer for Vintage and Anchor books. I am very excited to be here and am loving the work, the freedom, the environment, and co-workers (Some amazing designers and people). I not only get to design all day but I get to read a lot.

Some of the afore mentioned talented designers I am rubbin shoulders with: John Gall, Peter Mendelsund, Megan Wilson, and Mark Abrams.

Here is a video of my office and some pictures from outside my window (facing south west). I work in the Random House Tower (P. Diddy lives at the top) on 55th St. and Broadway, right near Columbus Circle and Central Park. I/we spend a the occasional lunch in the park watching softball games or people gazing.

Here are a couple of covers I have done thus far.... (some rejected)

NEWPORT RHODE ISLAND

We invited our good friends Joseph and Bianca over for breakfast last Saturday and by the end of our meal we had decided to get in their car and drive somewhere. We grabbed a few things and were on the road by noon headed for Rhode Island. Rhode Island because it seemed like a doable distance and a new enough place. On the way there we used our phones to find an exact location / intriguing place, Newport came up. "Sounds perfect, lets go there." Having absolutely no plans or expectations made for wonderful time (and a hotel with a pool). I hope to do this again sometime very soon. Thanks for the wheels and good company J/B!

BEAUTIFULLY BANAL

A show I curated a show for the Type Directors Club the past year and is up, and finally open! I am happy to say it is receiving a great response. Soon after my Cardon Copy show last year I was approached by Matteo Bologna to curate a show based on mine for the 2010 silent auction. The outcome being Beautifully Banal. The experience has been amazing, and I have gotten to meet and become friends with some amazing individuals. Please visit the website to become familiar or stop by if you are in the neighborhood!

TOWNSHIP OF DENVILLE

We spent the weekend in Denville New Jersey, the home town of our soon to be married good friends Graydon and Lindsay. Also going so Kelly could attend Lindsay's wedding shower. It is a beautiful community with lots of trees, ponds and lakes. On Saturday morning we had perfect weather for a morning hike to "hawks look out." Afterword, while the gals showered Lindsay, me and Graydon grabed some lunch followed by ice cream and a stroll around the center of town. It was when each of us were about half way through our ice cream that we realized we were on a date... we were ok with that.

MY NEW LOOK!

Check out my new doo! It was a long time coming, (as many of you know) I have been toying with the idea of cutting my hair short for-e-ver. I was super nervous, but didn't "wuss out" as Cardon said I would. I decided since I was going for such a big change i might as well throw some color into the mix too. Though have to admit I am not to happy with the color, but I love the cut! It is weird to see my own picture and reflection in the mirror, I don't recognize myself, the new me...
